Educational Technology, this semester's course, has been interesting!
During the introduction to the semester and course, we took an Ed Tech survey which is a skills survey rating our knowledge of technology such as the use of computer hardware and software, the use of the internet and much more. From this survey, I have learned that there are areas of growth, for me, when dealing with technology. Creating surveys are great ways to collect thoughts, track progress or knowledge, or even rate feelings and much more. Surveys are great! I would definitely create surveys like this for the content areas that I will be focusing on in my classroom. I give this type of activity a 10!
We were also introduced to teachnology.com in which we created timelines. This website was great! I enjoyed this so much! We were instructed to create a timeline of important or meaningful events that have occurred in our lives. Although mine was short, just being able to work with this website and for this software being user-friendly, the experience was amazing and will be useful in my classroom. I have basically learned to use and operate this site and how I can use this in my class. Having children create timelines with their personal information or subject projects would be awesome to display in my classroom! I rate this website at 8!
As for week two, we were introduced to Wordle! On this site, we had to, individually, write our names and words that others think "positively" of us. The results on Wordle was awesome! Wordle really makes life easier for designers. This type of application is very useful. I have learned that we can create so many things with that are attractive and simple with simple words. This site will be beneficial for teaching reading, for example, word walls. Since I took the opportunity to use this site, I am now planning to create shirts for my students for school year 2011-2012. The designs look awesome. I would use this site for vocabulary words, word walls, class t-shirts, basic projects, etc. I give this website a 9!
We were also introduced to bubble.us. We used this website to create a flow chart of our very own school system where we think, personally, of educational technology's placement in school. The activity was fun! I have learned that educational technology should be required in every area of a business or school system. I have also learned the easier way to create flow charts. This website will also be a way for me to have students put events in sequence or use this as a graphic organizer that touches on the different parts of a story or organize information in a way where it is straight to the point and brief I give this website a 10!
For week four, we created a profile for blogging on this site "blogger.com". This site is cool too! I have never blogged before and so this experience really made me understand the importance of blogging. I have learned the cool tricks to blogging and how to use the different gadgets that this site offers. It was exciting! I would have my students use this site for journaling and reflecting. I give this website a 7!
